2009 NWNJBA Holiday Meeting
December 12th, 2009 - The annual NWNJBA holiday meeting and dinner was held at the Echo Hill Camp in Clinton NJ.
The meeting which featured a catered dinner was well
attended and included an auction of historic memorabilia, a Chinese auction, and
a special visitor who brought gifts for children in attendance.
The club announced it will be
selling chances to win a complete hive setup with Bees with the drawing to take
place at the spring meeting. If you are interested in purchasing a chance
come and join us at the spring meetings which will be announced here at the
website.
Several beekeeping and craft items were auctioned off at the Chinese Auction. It seems that it will be a festive season for secretary Barbara Hill as she has a knack for winning Poinsettia plants. Good job Barbara!
Of
course several of the clubs participants were especially please at the
special visitor who stopped by to welcome in the holiday season.
A lively auction of several beekeeping related publications were held including 1920 and 1930s versions of BeeCulture books and pamphlets took place. Thanks to all that got into the action and enjoy the publications. Some interesting data in there about costs of beekeeping from yesteryear.
Karin showed several shirt and sweatshirt samples and the club reviewed potential color choices. It seems there was a lot of interest in the burnt orange and gray, along with blue for shirts and sweatshirts. Hopefully a consensus was reached there...
Like the bees that we keep, most of us will take a little break over the winter but dream of warm spring days where we can break out of our own hives and forage. Enjoy the holiday seasons everyone and keep in touch.
